I under stand what your saying but I think I would set my tree hugger where I wanted my tarp to hang and possibly just put a lower loop with it it that's the case and possibly add on of these to the strap to hang from the tree. http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery.../9/buckle3.bmp

After a year of reflection, or so, on this topic we come back over and over to the need for a simple, strong, light weight, durable, adjustable approach for webbing users that does not require conectivity to any of the spider lines etc.... An absolultely no modification required device.... Also one that does not require a back up jam or slip knot to insure that it does not slip....

Just slide it on the web suspension strap, ring the tree, back trough the device... Done ....

No knots, No lashing, No fancy wrapping or rigging to insure adequate holding friction...

And readily adjusted if necessary... The Tri-Glide device does these functions.... but none of the commercially available tri-glides fit all these requirements until now....

Enter the JRB Tri-Glides.... Knot free, no modification required, adjustable, secure, light weight, hammock hanging....http://www.jacksrbetter.com/index_files/Tri-glides.htm

Excellent! Pan, you know we're gonna want you to sell 1 inch webbing now too so we don't have to pay shipping costs to different companies.

Um, ok... well I ordered some. I'm either going to replace my onRope cinch buckles with them, or replace the 'biners that go around the tree and snap back into my straps. I still have Spyderline coming from my hammock to the straps. I just want to know where best to use them in my setup, and it'll take some experimentation.

Pan, you probably want a new thread for this product.

very cool for the all webbing user. If it works then it could replace the cinch and biner to save some weight. Does it move easily after the second piece of webbing is pulled through?

Those look like a winner. What would set them apart from something like this which looks similar other than maybe weight?

I think you would find the tri-glides in the link above will bend/flex under a load. They're too thin. And once they've been stressed they don't recover their shape and begin to slip. Believe me, we tried to find one commercially available. There's nothing out there I'd be willing to trust under a load. So we had one made that's sturdier.

    Regards,

    FF, et al,

It is hard to tell from the picture on that one.... if thick enough, maybe it would work.... but then as you point out there is the weight of steel.... Weight stated is .1 pound... that would be 1.6 oz times two or 3.2 oz for a set.... vs 0.77 oz per set.... or, over 4 times heavier.
