Down Bootie covers
All this talk about wearing your down booties around camp and how to keep the protected got me to thinking about my own so I came up with a removable cover alot like some of the commercial booties that are available have. I wanted to be able to wear my booties a little around camp and out for night time pee breaks and then remove the outer shell and keep my clean booties on in the hammock so this is what I made.
-I started with my Sierra Designs packable booties and cut a reflectix sole.
-Next I sewed it between two layers of heavy weight waterproof fabric.
-Next I cut the bottom out leaving 1/2" all around to attach the side to.
-I then attached a strip of the same heavy cordura fabric about 1.5" tall all the way around.
-Followed by another 1.5" strip of a lighter fabric to allow the shock cord to work.
I am going to give the bottoms the silicon treatment that was talked about in the other thread to add some grip and seal the seams. I think these things are bad ass and should keep my booties nice and clean. Thanks for checking them out
