ExPed Downmat as bottom insulator
I've been using an Exped Downmat 7 M for several years now. First in tents and snow holes and now in my DD hammock.
As we all know, down is a great insulator but useless when it gets wet and nearly so when compressed (under your body).
The downmat avoids both these problems by having a waterproof shell and, when inflated, lofted down that cannot be crushed because of the air trapped in with the down.
This solution works both on the ground and in my hammock. For best results I put the downmat and my Marmot Never Winter inside a NATO goretex bivi bag and put the whole lot in the hammock.
Have kept me warm and dry in temperatures as low as -18C (or 0F if you like awkward temperature scales) and in driving sideways rain.

I used mine in the bridge when I had one, it helped spread the shoulder area a bit, toasty warm but a bit tippy for my liking. A bit more awkward in the gathered end I use now though.

I know this topic is a month old but I'm planning on using a Downmat 7 as well until I can buy or DIY an UQ. I have a WBBB so I hope it stays put better than the ENO I tried it in. I'm curious how low temps you have gone with the downmat?

I have used the Downmat DLX 9 in my DD hammock and been toasty at -16*C (3*F) using a poncho liner as a peapod. I would say inflating the pad to 1/3 to 1/2 gives good insulation put is not inflated enough to ruin the lay or be too tipsy. The DLX is longer and wider than the other models but I still used a CCF pad to across the shoulder area. I did find the poncho liner peapod was interfering with the lay and on the last night rollrd it back so it only covered my foot area and was golden from then on.
