Import pictures

Can anyone out there tell me how to import pics from my mac to the forum. Thanks

Click the Gallery link in the top left, and use the 'Upload Photos' option.

When you have them loaded in the gallery, each image page has a 'BB Image Code' at the bottom. Copy/Paste that code into your posts to place the photos there.

If you're using iPhoto to manage your pics, I find it easiest to drag and drop the images I want to upload onto a desktop folder first. This creates an extra copy of them that's not squirreled away in iPhoto's image management system. Then I use a freeware program to resize them before uploading.

Also, it took me a year to discover that images don't have to be uploaded to the HF Image Gallery. When composing a message using the "Advanced" menu there's a button down below labeled "Manage Attachments". You can attach pics to your message and they'll show as clickable thumbnails but they won't be in the gallery, just in the message.

If you're using iPhoto to manage your pics

iPhoto will let you export one or more images directly to any size you like. Select the files you want, and click File->Export

Also, it took me a year to discover that images don't have to be uploaded to the HF Image Gallery.

Unless the image isn't hammock-related, it's really best to put it in the gallery. The gallery is nice for browsing images all in one place, plus we can manage the images more effectively there.

Not only that, but they can be found again when in the gallery. If I remember that Dutch had a cool picture of something or other I can hope he put it in his gallery and go snoop through it quickly. Google crawlers also index the gallery, so it is helpful to put crucial identifying information in the photo description. Finding posts again....that's just a whole 'nuther issue.

I do use the attachment route if the image is "throw-away", something I deem won't have lasting value. Which doesn't imply that the images I put my gallery do! Just that I do have a sort of threshold as to where I'll put an image.

Agreed. Most pics go to the gallery. Was just pointing out that there was another option. Had seen those neatly organized thumbnails in peoples messages for a long time before figuring it out.

AS - Thanks for the File->Export tip. That's a big help. Learn something new every day.
