    New in SC

    Hey everyone,

I have been lurking in the hammock shadows for some time now. I love camping/ backpacking but have never had a good nights sleep in a tent. I only do one or two big trips a year, but its enough for me to want to explore other options.

From what I have read on the forum and from talking to others, Warbonnet is probably the direction I will be going. I had aspirations of making my own, but I think i might save that project for a rainy day.

If anyone here lives in the Charleston area, I would appreciate an opportunity to check out some gear first hand. Its one thing to read a review, actually seeing and touching a product is different.

Thanks for all the great info on the forum. I look forward to contributing and hanging in the future.

Wish I was down there on the coast with ya. Welcome to the forum. You can't go wrong with a blackbird IMO.

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

I live in Kingstree, but I work in Georgetown. Both of my local hanging buddies have run out on me, and I only really camp during the fall, winter and spring. If you want to take a look at my setup one weekend soon, we can set up a place to meet on neutral ground.

Welcome to Hammock Forums. I'm in Mount Pleasant. If you want to stop by and try out a Hennessy or a homemade gathered end, send me a PM. The $20 WalMart miracle hammock should be here any day too.

Fulminated, do you know of any campgrounds in Francis Marion up near Jamestown or Huger? That's about halfway between us, but I have no clue if there are any campgrounds near there. The only one I know of is just off the intersection of Steed Creek and Halfway Creek roads which is a bit further south.

p.s. "hot and skeetery" is a #*@&%^#% understatement! Can we PUHLEASE have fall now?

Welcome to the site! Good to see another SC member join the ranks. I have a WBBB and have been absolutely pleased in every way. Unfortunately I'm in Greenville so it would be in convenient to try mine out...

Don't ever...ever go to the Halfway Creek Camp ground. This is my experience there.

I go to the Honey Hill campground between McClellanville and Huger.

If it hadn't been for that big evil storm cell rolling through here, I would have been there Friday night! That does NOT sound like a good time. Time to hit google and figure out where Honey Hill is.

Alternately, there's a great spot to stealth camp a mile or so from that campground.
