1/3 of the cost? The snugpak jungle blankets I was seeing on Amazon cost around $40, which is more than most poncho liners I've seen. Are we talking about the same thing here?

I think he may have been comparing with the kifaru woobie as opposed to USGI....which is what I will get as I already have a USGI poncho. Looks like about 30 bucks on ebay.

I am struck to the very center of the core of my being that anyone needs to ask what a woobie is. I weep---yes WEEP---when I realize that there are those who have never experienced the joy of having on in his possession. Perhaps the most beloved piece of gear ever issued, next to the M65 Field Jacket and the P38 can opener, is the poncho liner. So loved is it that no good soldier goes anywhere without his woobie.

I will say that the Snugpack Jungle Blanket looks to be a more practical choice for civilian usage, and its cost is roughly the same as a brand new issue woobie.

Just ordered a woobie on ebay and will look into a Snugpack.

Looking forward to the cooler weather and want to outfit four systems to get family members into hammock camping.

We do call some species of carpet sharks Wobbegongs but that's not a marsupial. Closest I can think of before coffee though.

While on the subject, maybe this is a stupid question but how do you use what's bascially a blanket as a poncho liner? I actually have a Kifaru one and it's awesome but I just don't see it working well as a liner. You'd have to have it around your shoulders like you would any other blanket and it just wouldn't appear to be very secure. If I was to make a poncho liner I'd make it very much like a poncho, ie with a hole in the middle to stick your head through. Am I missing something? Always wondered.

They don't have a hole in the middle.

I know they don't, that's why I don't understand how they'd stay in place reliably just wrapped around you under a poncho.
