    Leaning hammock

Is it just me and the way i hang in my hammock (DD travel) or has anyone else experienced this because it seems to be biased to one side when i get in it and seems lobsided to me. The tapes are level round the tree as well. I was lying dead straight in the thing also with no sleeping bag just directly in the hammock with it upside down so the bug net is underneath.
Is this the way they are meant to be ?
    help ??!!

    thanks
    Andy

me being new to hanging, this might be a dumb question, but here goes...
Are you asking about a "lean" between head to foot direction? That you have your hammock as "level" as you can get it, but when you get into it, it seems to be either head down or foot down?? If so then that's because of gravity and body weight causeing the lean. I always set up my hammock with the foot end tied higher than the head end to compensate for this.

Sounds to me Andy's talking about a lean "to one side," meaning left or right.

If the lean is to the side that you used to get into the hammock, then just shift your butt to the center, and all will be well!

If the lean is the other way, then you went too far when you entered, I suppose.

It is all a function of your own personal center of gravity. McEntyre has it right. Just shift your butt. And if you find your feet too near the suspension, raise the foot end so your CoG slides a bit toward the head end. A hammock is a dynamic system. You gotta work with it.

It could be just a balance thing like was said, but I wonder if maybe the hammock was not even on both sides when the fabric ends were tied, leaving one side longer & therefore looser.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Yeah, left to right with the lean to the side i get in. So moving more centrally should correct this ? Why didn't i think about that before, must be that i'm new to hanging, lol. Will try it out weekend after next as i'm off camping for the weekend.

Thanks guys, your answers are appreciated.

Because it was comfy as soon as you lay down, and you did not want to move!

Well folks, spent 2 nights in the hammock over the weekend and it was great. No leaning or anything. I could have put the foot end a bit higher up but it's all part of the learning curve for me. Had a cool breeze blowing through which chilled my back but i only had a 6mm foam mat in so now i'll start looking at better insulation.
