Getting ready for my coldest night yet...

Right now it is 40 but with the 20 mph winds TWC says feels like 30*. Lows tonight are forecast for 30, so with the wind chill should feel like 20* or lower. I have been to 30* (no wind) comfortably.

I'm layering my 20* incubator and 0*burrow with my Peapod. After my windy Mt Rogers experience I am using my cuben side tie-outs for the first time and set my tarp so low to the ground that I have to almost crawl in, and I put bricks over my tie-out stakes. I plan on wearing mid weight wool and a hat.

May be complete overkill, but I hope I won't have to bail out during the night...

    Any other suggestions?

If you're tarp is blocking all the wind then you may end up sweating in your rig. Take care to make sure you're not getting too warm in all that. I like to configure my setup so that I'm comfortably cool. Not so cold that I'm shivering, but cool enough that I'm not liable to start sweating. I find cold temps are harder to find that happy medium.

Good luck to you and warm wishes.

    Tonights low should be 27*

    and 6 mph winds.

Been considering testing my Wilderness Logics SSUQ supplemented with a space blanket tonight too. That with my 15* down bag, and my HH Under Cover as a backup. I've had the SSUQ down to 31* with the space blanket without the Under Cover.

Success, overnight low of 23*, thin running pants, long sleeve thermal, light sweater, and added a thin fleece about 5 am. Now I've got to figure out what TQ I need to replace the 15* REI mummy bag.

I took my KAQ Owyhee down to 30 degrees on Friday 11/23. I'm hoping I might be able to take it a bit lower. I have the long because I like pulling it up over my head when I sleep. I used a cheap Sunshade (foam backed) from Walmart between my UQ an hammock.
