    House Hammocks category needed

This sites main forum categories are:
    Hammock Camping
    Outings
    Marketplace
    Hammock Gear- Manufacturers

I think there needs to be a "house hammocks" section. There have been many threads in the DIY section (under 'Hammock Camping') of people building their own stands and hanging hammocks in and around the house. And lets face it, a hammock at home doesn't necessarily have to be light or have a bug guard if it is indoors. There are different considerations for indoors or a porch.

Not everybody who loves hammocks goes camping. It would be great to see all those threads moved to their own section so others can find the related threads much easier. It would make it more worthwhile to be able to subscribe to the house hammocks forum for some members.

Worry not. It is of significant relevance to me too.

There are more and more of the home hammocks threads every year, but still not enough to warrant it's own category. We (mods) are watching the activity and will create a category when and if there are enough threads devoted to the topic that it makes sense from an organizational standpoint. We're getting there, slowly but surely.

Maybe not just for indoors, but also backyard? Or could combine it to "other hanging locations" such as urban (for me!), back yard, in home, vehicular (think boats) and such. Hammocks etc. lol

If you are holding back a sub forum for Mayan / Brazilian and similar, please suggest in some place all might see, what key words those with interest in them should use in titles. Folks go to sub-forums for interests. Without markers, there's not going to be the dedicated interest and curiosity there otherwise might be.

I started a thread recently questioning the number of fulltime hammockers. At last count there were 12 and a few who would like to.That was out of 806 views, maybe there are not as many as we think.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

One of the problems with such a sub-forum might be the difference of opinions regarding how to hang in the house. I don't want to start it up again, but in the past that issue has become quite "lively".
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Different methods could be discussed in different threads like some of the ones that I have already come across spread out in the existing forums. I think home hammocks could include indoors, backyards, and yes, boats too, I have seen pics of those in the past, they look like loads of fun.

The new category would not necessarily be concentrated on types of hammocks because those can go across the whole spectrum, just depends on who buys what and uses it for what purpose. But more of the heavier style of hammocks could definitely be discussed since it seems to be lacking in the camping and backpacking areas. They are more colorful to look at. Thank you for keeping a Home Hammock category in mind for the future at least!
Tag with Home if your thread is more about home hammocks. Thanks!
