Dave, was just looking at google earth and just NW of the campground are what looks to be ponds at 27*47'06.35N x 81*27'02.66W & 27*47'05.00N x 81*27'07.56W with all the rain we've been getting is there any chance they are holding water?

Also entered this hang on the calendar.

I'm actually trying to get us farther away from the road and into some better hanging territory plus I'm balancing hikes and things to see on the way in and the Saturday hike.

The spot that you have seen is definitely full of water since it is a man made pond for cattle. It is a remnant of when they used to have cattle on the property prior to the state's purchase and the property has several of them scattered all over.

During the rainy season all of the seasonal ponds have water in them and about 1/3 of the property probably lives up to it's name but it has been a very odd rainy season and who knows what things will look like in November.

The place that I have my eye on for doing some recon is about a 2.5 mile hike in, a decent distance from a major road (not as much as I would like but it's still not bad), I _think_ it should have lots of opportunities for hanging, a gorgeous view, decent location for the Saturday hike, and right next to a pond that might have water. Even if it doesn't have water in the pond right next to the site there is another cattle pond a half mile away so we can make a run or two to load up on extra water.

The spot I'm looking at is at: 27°46'33.74"N 81°28'35.81"W

There used to be a little hunting camp/cabin there but it was removed several years ago (it wasn't "historic" and was mostly a pile of garbage). The cattle pond that I'm talking about is about 1/2 mile to the NE but the pond that we will be camping next to almost always has water (I'm just not sure how easy it will be to get to the water... muck )

Enjoy poking around and I will try to make some time to get out there next week (I haven't been out on that property for a while anyway so I need to see how things are doing) and I'll let you know how it looks!

Gotta run... I'm working today. The GBH (Grinder's Birthday Hang) should be a fun one!

This sounds great to me, Dave!
We can't thank you enough for all the planning & scouting you do for us on these trips. Maybe the rest of us can split up your gear at the trailhead so you can hike with an empty pack

Count me in on this one. I will have to see if I can get that Friday off. Monday is the holiday, so hopefully I can get the Friday to myself.

I will bring my camera. I want to get some more photos of the forest.

Glad you can make it. I think we only need emcee to make it a full reunion from last year's crew

With all the new Florida members we should be able to do better than last year. While looking around on Google Earth found a high point of 134' @ 27*47'35.24n X 81*28'18.17, that's nose bleed elevations for us flatlanders.
