    Question Best Blackbird Underquilt?

Ok, first of all, I'm looking for a down underquilt that's FULL LENGTH. Ive been looking at the UGQ Zeppelin 20 degree, and HG Incubator 20 degree. I like that both have draft collars, but which one will fit my blackbird the best? I also like the fact that UGQ's are less expensive. I'm not a gram weenie, but I still like having lightweight gear. I love my UGQ flight jacket TQ, and they are top notch. I have also heard rumors that the incubator sometimes leaks down. Is this true? Thanks in advance for you opinions. (you could also recommend other quilts, but remember that i want down, full length, and affordable.) Thanks!

I think most UQ are equally compatible with the WBBB, at least that was what I was told.

My HG Incubator fits the BB perfect, is toasty warm, snug fitting, easy to set up and has not leaked a bit of down and I'm totally satisfied with it.

The Blackbird is nothing else but a gathered end hammock with a couple of features added. All underquilts made for gathered end hammocks will fit. Your choice depends on your wishes with regards to length, width, weight, fabric, color, suspension etc.

I own several HG Incubators, a WB Yeti, a UK Hammocks XXXL underquilt and a WL full-length uq. All of them fit - each has its uses. For hiking light and warm I prefer my HG Incubators, since they fit me perfectly (in any hammock I own, including the BB) and they are the lightest uqs I own. BTW - I have not seen the Incubators leak any down. As a matter of fact, the Argon fabric seems to be the most down proof fabric that I have seen so far.

UGQ seems to be a very accessible vendor which will accomodate special wishes and do custom work. They also have a greater selection of colors, if this is of any importance to you.

If you can't decide, toss a coin

I might get the zeppelin for the extra width and ease of contacting them.

    +1 on what Mumbles said.

I will add one bit of advice that I found helpful. I added 2 Dutch quilt hooks (aluminum) to my BB, one above the foot box and one at my left shoulder. I have some shock cord that runs the length of my UQs and I hook it through the QH. I carefully bent the QH a bit so that the shock cord "clicked" into place. My wife uses this kit now and loves it. Before the hooks, things were moving around a bit for her.

And absolutely no down leakage from any of my HG products.

What were your sources? Maybe they were using pre-argon quilts, or some other antique.
