    Salutations from Irmo, SC

Brought here by a friend from high school who lent me his Warbonnet Blackbird, I'm interested in finding out more about this. I used to camp a lot more, but as I get older I find that sleeping on the ground is for suckas and people with better joints.

What I hope to learn most is what options there are available to fat guys like me (weighing in at a cool 366 lbs). Surely there have to be some.

Next time somebody asks "how's it hanging," I'll just answer "between two trees!"

Thanks much! I suspect I'll let him stay my friend a little longer. Any good camping around there where you are?

I've got a good friend who owns a farm up around your way.

Hello and welcome from Murrells inlet sc. You just missed a group hang over at santee state park. But be on the look out for more group hangs in the upcoming months. Oh and I would highly recommend the hammock bliss no see um hammock.

I love Santee, used to go there all the time as a kid in the Boy Scouts. Definitely keep me in the loop for more! Camping is something I'm really interested in getting back in to (going to Poinsett in October, which will be my first hang (in the Blackbird)), and I'm told over and over that hammock camping is 100% the way to go.

Indeed! We have an annual hang near the end of Spring on Goat Island in Lake Greenwood. You just missed the "Fall Sprawl" hang down at Santee State park. There is an event in March (Spring Swing) at Huntington Beach state park near MB, SC. We also try to get over to the Ellicott Wilderness Area along the Chattooga River at least once or twice a year.

You should have plenty of opportunities to meet up with people. Great number of hangs in SC and surrounding area.

CW, I know a good many people who camp out on Goat Island on Lake Murray. Funny how it always seems to work out with Goat Island, no matter where you go. Billy Dreher (Dreher Island State Park to non-locals) is where I do most of my camping these days since it's pretty close.

    Thanks, Rooster.

I was about to point out that I go through Chester a few times a year when I travel to NC, but then I realized it was Chesterfield. C'est la vie. How are things around there?
