Great Photos! I like the Sage color too. I was going to get one, but switched at the last minute to digital camo. Came today! But had to mow the lawn, so not trying until tomorrow.

Got it out tonight. It was cool! Maybe I'll do a few step review.

    Tests will soon begin

As I said at the beginning of this thread I needed a bigger hammock than SB because I'm going to build my deep cold winter rig. Winter is coming. Plan goes as follows.

    Hammock: Dangerbird 72 (off course)

    Tarp:

    Hilleberg XP 10: Weight 970 g 34 oz with guy lines; size 3 m x 3,5 m.

    Hilleberg XP 20: Weight 1900 g with guy lines; size 4,5 m x 4,5 m

Both are SilPoly, no stretching, and can be used either A-frame form or Diagonal form for fewer guy lines and better view.

Bottom Insulation First layer (between Hammocks double layers):

Two Fjällräven Ground sheet's, 14 mm (0,55 inch) EVA pads. Combined R value about 4,5-5. Width 60 cm (23,6 inch) and can be laid so that there will be no cold shoulder syndrome for example 80 cm (31,4 inch) and still keep the center area 28 mm (1,1 inch) thick. Weight 470 g x 2 (33 oz).

These can also be easily used for sitting etc. during day time. And they keep the hammock in open welcoming form.

Bottom Insulation Second layer (inside hammock):

Thermarest Neo Air All Season Large, R-value 4,9. Weight 710 g (25 oz).

This does not take much space in my pulk. (to compensate those EVA pads)

    Top and side Insulation:

    Wiggy's Antartactic bag with OverBag Rated to -62 C (-80 F), Weight 4,54 kg (10 lb)

One layer EVA zone 14 mm about, R value about 2,5.

    Danger birds Weather cover

    To sum it up:

R value under me about 10 + compressed bag. R value sides 2,5 + Sleeping bag slightly compressed. R value on top of me 'probably enough'.

    Weight of the insulation:

    Bottom: 1,65 kg (2,5 lb)

Top and side: 4,54 kg (10 lb)

    I'll be back!

    Sleeping experience

Now I have slept two days in My DB 72 DL. It is undoubtedly the best hammock I have slept in. Mainly the goodness comes with the size and good material. My height is 192 cm and weight is 125 kg.

No calf problems as sometimes in BB. And as bigger one it is better than SB somehow. It is not easy to nail why, but the sweet spot is right there, no need to wiggle. And side sleeping is truly an option and both sides go, in BB only one side is good enough. In SB there usually is some banana shape when sleeping on side.

And there is room above ones head - it is like a cathedral when lying dow. BB is bit low and with SB there is the extra work in putting the netting up.

The view is quite good, at least to the left. But not as good as in SB.

The ridge line organizer is ingenius. The space used for bottle in PapaSmurfs images is good for eye glasses. In no other hammock there has been trusty enough place for those. And because the ridgeline is so high up there organizer does not hit ones head at any point.

Weight is terrible, but maybe if I had bought a single layer version of this it would be usable in pack packing use. Now only canoe, kajak, pulk, bicycle or car will carry it.

I did not get the idea of using it with in "half bugnet half weather shield" - mode. There were bugs and they would have flown inn in that configuration. And now when using the net already when going in it is quite easy to use, no need for two sided zipper. Only downside is that one loses the full symmetry in use, there is now only one direction to sleep depending on is the bug net or weather shield in use.

This was the first time test for double EVA Pad use, and it worked, no cold shoulder syndrome anywhere.

I also tested it with Warbonnet edge tarp, but that tarp is too short.

    Pics will come later...

Oh, and one more thing. I can definitely recommend the white inner layer. It is excellent in use, easy to find things and more luminous than basic green.

Great looking hammock. I'm trying to decide between the db and the wbbb.

Take the SwitchBack from Tree to Trail gear. It is more fun to use than WBBB and lighter than DB. It can be used upside down as an open hammock also.

    News from Dream Hammock

I did notice resently that Dream Hammock is now offering hammocks made of nylon. So the problem with weight is no more.

But I must say that Crinkle taffete is excellent (best IMHO) hammock material if weight is no problem.

What draws you to that over nylon?
