    VA Luray, Shenandoah River Float/hang

Ok I'm going to try to set up a hang here in the great state of Virginia. The hang will be on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River in Luray. If interested you will need a canoe or kayak. The trip would just be two days one night a Saturday and Sunday. I have not decided on a date yet but would be with in the next month. The trip would be for anyone but be advised all float trips include fishing and beer (with in moderation LOL). Camping would be wilderness style not a campground you will need everything food water shelter and so on. There are two National Forest designated camp areas but the 8 mile stretch is all National Forest and we could camp any where. I'm still working out the bugs but would like to see if there is any interest.

Was up in Fort Valley last weekend, beautiful country. Be sure to keep a check on the ticks. Had 1 crawler and 1 sucker and never got too far into the brush.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

I would love that! I have been wanting to do a trip on this river for a while now and just havent been able to work out the details and time. This my second season working up in the SNP, it will likely be a challenge to get off for a weekend, but if I can I am deffinately in!

CRUMBS! I don't own a canoe or kayak... but I'd LOVE to participate if appropriate arrangements could be made, and if the date works!

I hope it becomes a yearly event.....

so I can attend next year. This area is the canoe capitol of America. I've done the AT through this area and noted then how much I'd like to paddle it.
Cant this year but next year would put it on the calendar in blood

I am planning a Kayak purchase in the next two weeks or so... if I can coordinate, I'm in! I'm only an hour and a few North.

I 2nd the yearly event idea. I won't be able to make it this year, but next year would be a promise.

There are a bunch of canoe outfitters in that area. I am sure one would rent you a canoe.
