I put 20s...it was the Winnemucca trip, and the true temp was about 20F but windchill made it -10F.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
mine was 28*, last 'winter'. JRB underquilt, weathershield, CCF pad with wings, thin polypro longjohns, and a hat. was cool, but slept ok. think i have the underquilt thing under control, so maybe i can get it lower. didn't realize til this summer that the weathershield's weight causes the quilt to hang lower. i find that i have to move the suspension system's loops closer in, just inside the knot, and pull the rest much tighter. any advice from anyone here would be useful.
it's been cold here the last couple nights, and i've gotten 'permission' to sleep out tomorrow night... supposed to be in the 30s. hope it goes lower.
I voted for 40's. That's where I actually SLEPT...
Tried recently down into the 30's, was marginally ok, but the neighbors' dogs kept barking half the night.
My one "cheek" was pretty cold, so I know I need to do some better adjusting on my UQ.

Michele,
I tried jamming my sleeping bag down under that cheek (I was using it quilt-style) and that didn't help, and neither did taking off both socks and putting them there too! (I'm a side sleeper)
Later, I finally went in the house and put on the fleece pants and jacket, and that did help- but it also got the neighbors dogs going again
Maybe I need more meat on my butt... lol
Maybe we need to try a thicker ccf, but in torso (or cheek) length?

I used my NS and Nest as underquilts last night. Along with my bottom weathershield. Temp hit 18 at 3:OOa.m.
My "Cheeks" were still cold. Both quilts were shaken to get more down in the bottom. I tried a 3/8 sit pad but was still a little cold on other areas. I then tried my 3/8 thick 3/4 length pad. It worked well but needed to be longer and wider.
I could have had adjustment problems that I was unaware of.
I'm not a huge fan of double underquilts to begin with. I was just testing it out.
I will just use one underquilt from now on and look to improve my pad situation.
My face also got cold even with my expedition weight balaclava. Just my eyes and mouth. Had to pull my bag over my face.
