Hey Opie,
I just wanted to shoot you a note to say that I'm really glad I took Te-Wa up on his suggestion of using Whoopie slings of different colors on the hammock, so that I could easily tell the foot-end from the head-end.

A great idea, if I must say so myself. Success has arrived, no more wondering what end I am about to hang, especially in the dark even when I'm using the red lense in my headlamp ( I'm loving it man

I sure am glad I bought another pair of slings. Now I have a 2nd pair of mixed colored slings for another hammock, or maybe give them to someone else who might need a helping hand in the Piney woods sometime. And I don't have to lose my night vision to tell head from tail if I arrive at my campsite after dark, which is happening more often as we go into the winter seaon. Nothing negative to report to you yet.

I have ordered a set of slings and plan to feed the fixed end through my hammock channel. I need to know if the fixed end can come undone or is it some how fixed permanently?

It is "locked."

It will not pull out. Unless you physically cut the strand of Amsteel I used as thread to stitch it.

I dont have specific weights. I do know that a set of 6' slings in the CD bubble mailer I use weighs, IIRC, 1.7 ounces.

100' weighs .3 pounds. I use 26 feet (13' per sling)in a pair of 6' slings. 34' (17' per sling) in a pair of 8' and 42' (21' per sling) in a pair of 10'. I really suck at math or Id figure that out on my own.
