    That gets me thinking. I have some old bamboo cross country ski poles...somewhere

    I may need to check them out and see if they can be modified.

    Here's a hiking pole I made this weekend just to try out the idea. I like it! Lightweight, sturdy, natural. Gonna have to whip up a second one.

    I had some scraps of suede leather, so I used several layers to make a soft yet grippy grip. The wrist strap is three lengths of paracord braided together and then drilled thru the shaft and cemented inside the grip leather.
