    Good thread Billy-Bob

'You see those fishermen in their wool sweaters and fleece, not a down puffy, for a reason. ;-)'

Come fall and until next summer I carry smartwool tights and the BPL merino hooded pullover....granted a thin plan B but a plan B nontheless.

the darker the better ! Sun rays are caught much better this way, but since the shell is still black, that is not much a problem I think

Maybe Wiggys might have run out of black liner or it can also be a permanent choice ?

Can anyone tell me if this lining still feels like the shell ?

I owned an Ultra Light previous generation, and both lining and shell were feeling 70 denier (just touching with the hand tells you the difference and the accuracy)

Despite Manufacturer's claim, I can see minor changes nowadays, not standing on the website (not much updated as it used to be)

Now the mid grey looks like to be a ripstop, that was not the case before,
    Hence my question
well heres the story...as far as i kno anyway....the new lining is 1.1 or so ripstop in foliage green....i have a couple...i was expecting the black tafeta like they used before, but jerry changed it, but not the website....thats just the way he is....but i gotta say that i like it better, so no complaints..plus its lighter....and that was one of wiggys drawbacks i think hes trying to overcome....

    more

i talked to jerry about....he can be a little challenging to talk with...but if you want the black taffeta its a custom order now...so although i liked it and he always said it was the best material to use, this new ripstop seems pretty nice.....and i like foliage green .,....but i got a feeling its something to do with keeping up with kifaru and their rhinoskin ....

Ok, things have to evolve, but I am and was a Wiggys adamant soldier

But be aware that laws cannot be changed

the 70 denier black taffeta was very meant to be, all those years
so why now, switch to a 40 denier 1.1 oz ripstop (lighter)
he was deadly set against ??? right ?

The 40 denier will trap heat faster for sure BUT it will eventually
    release it faster !!!
Moreover, I don't know how tight it is woven but this fabric is a mistake
it will not let moisture go as easily as the older one used to !

    Not Wiggys, but same idea

I tried to think how to use Wiggy's bag as an under quilt, but did not get it.

Suddenly I remembered enLIGHTement products. And though it is not Wiggy's it will probably be close enough.

It will be Prodigy 6', wide with 8oz APEX inner charcoal10d/ outer aspen green 15d-wr. Weight about 36 oz and graded 15 F. The idea is to use it as three season top quilt and for extra warmth during winter time as an UQ when using My Wiggy's bag as TQ.

Has anyone given thoughts of replacing Polyester Fiberfill with CUBEN ?
Even Climashield would cut weight down

    Autumn is coming

It is time to test Wet Wiggy's.

I have the +35 F over bag, so when the weather gets adequately cold (+30 to +40 F) I will go to the our front yard and tell my wife to pour 10 buckets of cold water over me when I lye in My bag with my trekking clothes on. Bag will be open during the "rain". I will be using Exped Synmat DLX 9 under me, no hammock.

    How about that!?

There is only two conditions. It should happen during the night between saturday and sunday - otherwise it is no go. I can not go to the work without sleeping properly. The other condition is: no rain in forecast for that night.

How about that, indeed... how about that...

This thread made me laugh! I have Wiggy's stories from way back. He is so abrasive that it makes me giggle.
