Mine have not slid at all. I think maybe it's because I tightened the dynaglide as tight as I could possibly pull it to get all the slack out.

My larkshead on the whoopie hook keeps the whole triangle stable by locking the point of the triangle on the hook.

As to hook failure.... well, not yet

Thanks, Dave. That confirms what I was thinking. I'll have to go back and make some new dogbones. Good thing that I can use the others for extentions!

Sewed channels in my hiker for mini-spreader bars today. The bars have a 6" spacing and I thought it would be necessary to sew loops on the corners of the hammock to keep the hammock from sliding to the center.I used newhanger's system and when under tension the lines thru the channel are pulled tight and the hammock doesn't gather toward the center. Tried hanging in my house stand with the exisiting whoopies which ended up being too long. Though only a few inches off the floor the lay was great. Before making up shorter whoopies I'll hang it on my SLS tomorrow and see if the new whoopies are necessary. Will take some pics then.

Cool! I'd like to see pics. I'm attempting a grosgrain end around hook for the ends of the spreaders but am not satisfied so far with the results...

That's what I thought I would need but doesn't seem so with newhanger's system. With the system on my fulltimer which is a short section of amsteel with loops on each end fed thru the channel and looped over the dowel the hammock wants to slid to the center.

I like the mini spreader bar through the hammock end channel the best
What if you rounded the corners on some square wood stock (or some half round), use it inside the channel and use another piece the same on the outside. You could then somehow use the weight of the hammock to clamp the two together, holding the hammock material so it doesn't slip? is this possible?
