No backyard or trees . If the local state park wasn't still under water from the Nor' Easter I would've spent the night there.
Our apartment has already been taken over by hiking and biking gear leaving no room for a hammock stand. I thought about setting up hooks to hang hammocks from, but since we live in a 200 year old house that has had termite issues, the results could be painful!
I used me Stealth last night (in my hammock this time). Temps dropped down to the low 40s and I was warm on top. I do not think I had my Nest set up correctly because the back back of my claves we cold. I've used the Nest around these temps before without this problem so I am chalking it up to user error.
The stealth was way more insulation than I needed.
I noticed a slight phenomenon the past couple of weekends. When using my new insulated hammock, my bodyheat seems to pass into the down beneath me, but after a while the heat radiates upwards, trapped by the bugnet. At this point I don't really need a top cover. Does everyone else experience this?
Also, on this trip I only carried thermals, beanie and a windshirt for backup clothing, as I counted on using the stealth for camp insulation if required. I normally pack a fleece jacket as a backup, incase my sleeping gear is soaked or something. Does anyone feel that removing this backup clothing significantly reduces the safety margain?
