    Smile Howdy Y'all from Oklahoma!

Okay I don't REALLY say y'all.....much... but definitely wanted to say a warm hello to all you avid hammock folks!

A friend of mine heard that I was planning a kayak/camping trip down the Illinois river in mid March and suggested I hammock camp rather than the traditional tent camping.

Like any curious indiviudal I said "hammock what??" Fast forward to him setting up his blackbird at Woodward Park and WHOA BOY how awesome is THAT!?!

I'm hooked and I haven't even gone yet! The excitement grows as I continue making my plans and I will be using these forums to beseech the wisdom of you fine members.

That being said, be ready to see a lot of me!

Hey there from OKC! Welcome to the wild world of hammock camping. I am sure you have had the pleasure of wondering through this delightful little site. I would strongly recommend watching Shug's videos (if not for the information at least for the entertainment ). I will warn you that I have noticed a growing trend of mild to moderate obsession over hammocks once you start . Good luck and enjoy.

    Thank you Sunny!

Trust me, I feel that obsession growing inside me and others are taking notice! Hah!

I love these forums and it's amazing to see alot of people from Oklahoma. That's awesome!

I haven't gotten around to watching Shug's videos yet but I have plans to. I hear everyone talk about them!

Thank you for the welcome! I have posted in General Hammock Talk about my first trip and my dilemna on what my first hammock purchase will be. If anyone wants to check it out and contribute sage advise I would be ever so grateful!

Hi there! I like in Broken Arrow and frequently hike at Turkey Mountain to stay in shape, there is a group that meets at the trailhead every Saturday at 9am.

Good to see another local hammocker!

Hey Guy! I spent a few years over in Stillwater before moving back to Georgia. It took me years to get used to all the trees again. Yeah, I know there are trees in Okla - just not the oak & pine groves like they have here.

Go ahead and plan on getting a good tarp, you are going to need it 'when the wind comes sweeping down the plain.'
