I am going to Stehekin in late summer as well. With some family, to scatter the ashes of an old timer who loved it there. That place is a hangers paradise. You have firm dates yet?

the last weekend of august is the current plan... i'm hiking from prince creek with a few friends starting the second to last weekend.
I will likey be there the same time. Camped out Bridge Creek way. Stop by if you see my gear, and we'll have a drop or two to mark the occasion.
My wife and I are thinking that we will probably head out to Dosewallips tomorrow. Are you still planning on hanging tomorrow night? We will be heading out on Saturday though because we want to make the reptile convention that is happening in Tacoma.
Still planning on it as of now. Should be drippy and cool (maybe even a trace of snow) so we could still chicken out. Plan right now is to park in the turn off on the river side of the road just short of the washout. Will likely get as close to the river as we can from there. Have never done anything there before except park and hike on up the road, so not sure what to expect. It is a lowlands river bottom so is likely to be impenetrable, but I believe others camp there so there must be some access trampled through to the river.
Welcome to the forum!!
I've been trying to move to WA for some time. Once the Fiancee's web business takes off so do we. tick tock =) We're looking at North of Spokane area - anyone from that area or perhaps NW Idaho?
TONS I'd like to know!! Dropping you a PM.
Thanks!
Went to Dosewallips - Looked for others - Only found drunk tent dwellers. Could not find a suitable place to hang - that whole place looks like it is going to slide down the cliff. Tried to go to the state campgrounds and they were closed by the time we got out too them. We gave up and drove back.
I should have contacted to see if you were going or not as we were getting there late.
I am going to go back for a hike to see what lies beyond the wash out… I bet there’s allot out there…
So my 1st hang will be at Cape Alava on April 2nd
Sorry we didn't connect. We were there and had the place to ourselves. I suspect you were stopped about 8 miles up the road. A stream had flowed across the road and taken out part of it. We went on across in a full sized pickup and on up to the real washout, a 100 yard portion of the road claimed by the river. Some real nice spots up there. I wrote up the trip in another thread.
