    Noob Dripline Question

Going out this weekend with forecast of rain an snow. I have the WBBB with the adjustable webbing straps (which I happen to love). I'm not really worried about the straps per se, but more the area where the metal triangles attach to the cord that is tied to the end of the hammock. Does anyone have any comments/suggestions?

I am using the ID Siltarp2 as my tarp (seam sealed the ridgeline last night). It's got enough coverage for the ends of the hammock, but not a ton.

The excess strap acts as a drip line.

i never have an issue with water running down to the hammock... but IF you want full security, just tie a 1 foot piece of yarn below the buckle. an old shoestring will even work.

Thanks! I am probably being over-cautious because it's my first foul weather hang. But I am actually looking forward to the experience!

Yep and if you are really concerned you can put a slippery half hitch using the straps. and the rain would have to go on quite a ride to get to your hammock.

Actually adding a slipped half is not advised with the current buckles. The knots can pull the webbing out of alignment and could cause a failure of the strap. No knot with the tri-buckle.

As others have said the strap coming back up out of the buckles,,,the buckles them selves and a string of sorts if you still worried about it will all work as suitable drip points. Just get the tarp over the buckles on each end and they should be plenty.

I just cut a 1"x10" strip out of an old dish towel and tie that around the webbing under the tarp. I actually never thought of putting it on the cord instead of the webbing. I think I prefer it on the webbing to catch it sooner.
