    Cat cut hammock ends

    Hi All
I am sure this has come up before but I cannot find it.
I am thinking of cat cutting the two ends of a top loader to tighten the the sides. Has anyone done this and with any success?
    Thanks
    Gunn

should create same effects as pulling extra fabric during whipping.

I remember Youngblood saying that Speer hammocks have some fabric removed from the outside edges of their hammock. Sorta like a convex cat cut if I am picturing it in my head correctly.

    Hi
I am not planning on whipping the ends of this one, I'll hem the end over like the TTTM hammocks.

A concave )___(cut will raise the middle and a convex (____) cut will lower the middle in relation to the sides Convex is what I would do, kind of like how Speer says to pull out the two outer edges before whipping. With the lower middle you should be able to lay in the diagnal easier giving a wider feel. Sounds like you want a concave cut. after reading your post again.

To tighten the the sides I think you will need a convex cut.

i thought ed just pulled fabric more at the edges.

using anything other than a perfectly square rectangle would be an infringement of the hh asym patent, even if it was still symmetrical. any convex or concave curve in the ends, or if one of the long sides is longer or shorter than the other long side, it's all claimed. you could put a curve cut in the long sides of the hammock, that's not covered, but it would not be beneficial either.

    Here's YB's quote:

If I am understanding that correctly, it would create a hammock end that is sorta convex or tapered.

The hammock police probably would not arrest you unless you tried to market it
