Claytor JH - my first hammock

I just ordered my first hammock - the camo Jungle Hammock. Can't wait to get it and get off the hard lumpy ground. Thanks everyone for all the info on this forum.

    Good choice.

I see you referred to it as your "first hammock"...you catch on quick.

I have been sleeping in a Claytor JH more nights than not over the last 4 years, and I do enjoy it. I also like the diamond tarp. Just ordered a WBBB l.7 dbl. I feel disloyal, as though somehow I have betrayed my Claytor.

Perhaps I will return, or at least visit on occasion.

Ditto that post. After several years of using several excellent hammocks, my Claytor No Net(CNN) remains one of my absolute favorites. And in fact, it is my most often used winter hammock. But that favoritism is not quite fair! It is because it also works better with my Speer PeaPod than any other hammock I have.

In the same way, my original hammock- HH UL Explorer remains a favorite, but a big reason is because it's all I can use with my HH Super Shelter. And sometimes I just like to go back to my beginnings and use that HHSS. But, still, it is a quite comfy hammock anyway.

I also had a CJH, about the same time as I got my CNN. I got rid of mine only because I was feeling guilty about having so many hammocks I suppose. Plus I was mostly using my No Net, as I am mostly a cool to cold weather camper. I didn't need the net, and the CNN was lighter. Still, I have always regretted selling the tarp. I really liked that "diamond" tarp, a lot better than my HH diamond! Someday I think I will buy another.

Congratulations! The Claytor was also my first hammock and in my opinion one of the best buys for the money. I just ordered a Switchback which is similar to a Claytor but again in my opinion, greatly improved.

My first hammock too. I love it and even if i tried some other hammocks too (DIY, Clark and a HH) i still use the Claytor. I am quite sure that if its worn out i would buy another.
I like the diamond tarp too but for winter/bad weather i think its a little bit too small. I am thinking about buying such a lovely tarp Shug showed in one of his latest videos. It's just the price what keeps me from ordering...

I slept on the ground over the weekend because my hammock hasn't arrived yet. I'm still sore and stiff and I had a pad and an extra folded blanket under my bag for cushion. I'm ready to elevate

Received my hammock yesterday, it looks great. I couldn't lay in it yet because I only have one big tree in my back yard and I made a tripod with 10 foot bamboo poles for the other end but couldn't get it stable enough. I'll keep trying.
