I totally understand your idea and like it. I'm a mod on another outdoor forum that has classifieds with sales and trades. Rarely any problems in that sub forum. The community really uses that resource well.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Interesting ideas.
Say you see a WTT post and offer up something for trade, how long before you could offer that same item on another WTT post? Not sure of the answer or if it would be a big problem but might be worth discussing.
Well I would hope that if an offer truly didn't appeal to the "seller" that they'd say so, leaving people to offer their stuff in trade somewhere else.
I just really do not think it should be
I want to trade this
Offer A
no
Offer B
no
Offer C
no
I don't think the rules should state only one active offer at a time.
Obviously, there could only be one item or lot per thread from the "seller" or it would get to confusing, to quickly.
So hk2001 then it would just be listing what I have I want to trade, say a tarp of such and such with blah blah extras. Then what? Offers are posted in the thread or by PM? What if someone wants that tarp and offers what I see as a good trade and we agree and make the trade. Again all on the thread or by PM? I'm just asking so that a good format is considered and hopefully implimented. Puzzled as to why offers cannot simply get rejected as offered. Explain how the best system as you see it would work. Thanks!
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.
True story: I think this is the first suggestion thread that hasn't been met with an overwhelming opposition from the "old timers" screaming about how nothing should ever change.
That might mean this is a good idea.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.
This is how I see it:
======================
Two Tents posts a WB Superfly with dutchflyz and tieouts for trade.
Turtle Creek offers a Volcano stove
Gresh offers his next born ()
HK2001 offers a knife
Mumbles offers a Fly Rod and reel combo
Two Tents decides that out of all the offers he wants the Volcano Stove. he Quotes TC's post and says "I'll take it"
So he PM's TC, they set up the trade, shipping etc. As soon as the trade is agreed upon he posts "Trade complete" in the thread, mods lock it, just like they do a completed sale.
====================
All this takes place in the public eye, (except the shipping PM's)
Now I do think that if there's an offer the "seller" is just flatout not interested in, he should say so, so the "buyer" can either offer it elsewhere or up their trade if it's something they really want.
Don't tell my wife, that means I wasted my one good idea this year in hammock forums, and she's gonna be allTrue story: I think this is the first suggestion thread that hasn't been met with an overwhelming opposition from the "old timers" screaming about how nothing should ever change.

I molded the kydex on that knife today, still waiting for the screws to complete it... it's puuuurdyI love it .... I officially have something trade marked!!

I can get behind this concept. Nice and I understand better now what you have proposed.

I like this idea as well. And so will SWMBO. When I am shipping OUT she likes it....I have incoming gear sent to the office
The road to success is always under construction.
