    Strapworks specifics

    Hello,

I am a hanging newbie, and I just bought a used HH expedition, and it didn't come with the webbing straps, and as I understand from searching the forums, Strapworks sounds like a good place to buy some straps. My question is in reference to length, and end configuration.

    - What length of strap should i buy?
    - How many inches should my loop be?

    any input/suggestions appreciated.

Have a look at this thread. It is an older thread, but I explained/answered most of the HH/Webbing questions in it.

so, angrysparrow, with the cinch buckles system, can i order the straps with only one end looped, or do i need to cut the loop off one end and sew it to avoid it getting fringy?

I ordered a 30 foot strap from Strapworks. They sewed loops on both ends for a minimal fee. I cut it in half, giving me 2 - 15 foot lengths on each side to use with the cinch buckles.

I buy this in the 24' length with a 2" loop and cut it in half leaving me with a loop on each end. I then melt the cut end with a lighter to keep it from fraying.

I also took the cinch buckle and used a very short piece of spyderwire to attach it to a carabiner. I use this as an adapter between the straps and any hammock I use.

One support system to try various hammocks, keeps it simple for me.

Yes, you can buy one simple sling with loops on each end and cut it in half...

I like to have loops on both ends of each length. It adds almost no weight and gives a backup if something were to happen to the stitching on one of the loops.

    one more thing:

the site you gave for cinch buckles... there is a minimum of 5 to order which comes to $15 plus tax.

I have searched the internet and cant find anywhere else that sells 1" metal cinch buckles! Is there another site that sells these w/o a minimum?
Or can i pick them up at a local hardware store or Lowes or Home Depot?

    thanks again.

No, sadly that is the only reliable source for the cinch buckles, despite the minimum.

Have you seen the current group buy on cinch buckles that is underway?
