Don't let life get in the way of living.
Good news!
I just spoke with a another park official and he confirmed that the sites by the north island on Pen are open, although he thought that there were only two sites and not three. Still, that's enough for 18 people and a third site would only be a short paddle away.
Not long now!
Ladies and gentlemen, start your dehydrators!

That's great news. Just got notice of attempted delivery of my new tarp. And it's going to rain this weekend. If anyone needs me for anything at all, I'll be in my backyard not getting wet. It's a 12' ridge line so I'm going to have to get a longer cross-piece for my Turtle-Lady stand.
Having never camped in Algonquin, how does it work for the sites? Is it a race from the put-in? Can you book the sites now? I camp frequently at Frontenac and you have to reserve a specific back-country site. I heard talk before of people going in Thursday. Would it be helpful to have more people doing this? Looking for an excuse for another day off.
A lotta ins... lotta outs... lotta what-have-you's
First come, first serve. Algonquin bookings are done for Lakes only, not for specific sites. So start training!
Sounds like Iguana and Old Boot were heading in Thursday. Technically they could each hold a separate permit and claim two sites, although just rigging a conspicuous tarp at the second site should be enough to ward off passing canoeists.
Looking for an excuse? Fall colours, clean air and a complete lack of CNN! Those would be enough for me!

I'm going to have to back out of this trip...not happy about it but have to be realistic.
I just got back from 4 days in the north end of the park and I'm not well enough equipped to deal with later fall weather both gear-wise and body wise - I don't use 'The Old Boot' for no good reason...
Maybe I can help Jayson with convincing Tracy that more nights are an absolute necessity.
I think I'm going to start looking at group hangs in someplace warm like Florida! Come on spring!!
Looks like we are in for 3 nights...possibly 4, finances dependent...we just bought a house.
So if everyone that is heading in Thursday PM's me we will arrange a meeting up.
