I plan on trying out two stadium beer cans with screw tops in an AHE Super Dinner Bivy this winter. I want to find out how warm and how strong coffee would be in the morning if I use it instead of just hot water.

My findings are when I sleep with my hot water in a Nalgene and then inside a reflectix cozy that in the morn it is warm-ish but not hot.

Shug, I just got an Arctic Canteen in the mail from that generous and wise friend, Book! It's double walled and has a canvas cover, which I bet will be just right in the hammock with me at Mt. Rogers... unless Thing1 takes it! It weighs a lot, but maybe I can sneak it into Thing1's pack.

I'm trying to decide how to test the Arctic Canteen, and what to compare it with, such as a Nalgene in a cozy.

The Arctic Canteen has a most ingenious seal, consisting of an insert with a plug type cap. The plug expands the insert, and seals the opening completely and reliably. Most simple!

    Thanks, Book!

That's it! All 28.3 oz of it (empty and no cup)...

I've been noodling about the hump beside the mouth of the canteen... thinking it has to be an expansion area in case the contents freeze and expand.

What do you do with a bottle after your internals have been in it?

Guess you just boil it clean.

Between the warmth of the Nalgene and the ticking of a clock we stuck in the sock, he slept through the night like he was still with his mom.

What a great idea!!!! I'm going to try it for my pup on my next trip!

    Thank you
