    UQ wind blocker?

This may be a silly idea, but it would be a great addition for my summer pack if effective.

Above 45, Im generally warm unless there is wind. In that case I get a little cbs. I have this nasty habit of trying to set up near or over water though, where its calm all of 3 hours a day. Would a M90 or similar material be enough to block the wind as an UQ? Perhaps a dbl where a pad or climashield could be stuffed in as emergency back up.

A finished product would only weigh ~4 oz with suspension lines.

It might ba able to - but you should check out 2QZQ uqp offerings. They have some great stuff and may be able to get you something in the fabric you want.

Call me blond today, even though I'm not, but I'm confusing easily today Up way to early this morning. Do you not have an UQ and looking for something that would just stop some of the wind, or are you looking for an undercover to help keep the wind from robbing your heat of your UQ?

As for a pad, yes, it will help with the wind and insulation, but it changes the way the hammock lays and not as comfortable....although many here find they work great for them.

As for an UnderCover, many have been using the Frogg Togg rain ponchos converted over. It'll help protect your UQ if you have one, will aid in the problem of wind from robbing you of heat, but usually works better in combination with an UQ.

I do not want to use an insulated UQ, as its usually over kill for what I need. Just some sort of wind blocker under my butt.

The UQP from 2QZQ is roughly what Im looking for, but it would not be used with an UQ, and would probably be a little too loose/big for my needs. Im sure it wouldnt be hard for them to make what I had in mind though.

Any reason why something like this wouldnt work as intended?

I would contact 2QZQ. They are an extremely helpful couple. I wish I could help answer, but I can't, as I pretty much freeze my butt off without anything under it, especially by 3am, even if it's 80 degrees. Thank goodness I started to carry an extra piece of reflectix to place under it

Waterproof, windproof yet very breathable option is a Dri Duck Poncho with the JRB Weather Shield option applied and a quilt suspension system if you do not already have one...Inexpensive too.

I'm intrigued on the total weight and actual dimensions of the dri duck poncho/ uq protector

Edit: a guesstimate would be fine

The DriDucks™ Poncho is made from an ultra-light, waterproof, breathable, nonwoven polypropylene fabric. The material is fragile.

And how fragile are we talking? Vs ripstop?

Its strong enough to hold its own as an UQ protector. As a poncho it is susceptible to snagging on branches and ripping.

It seems to me the golite poncho tarp might be a good option, besides it already has small webbing loops
