My oldest son is stationed there and I'm taking so of hiss things to him. (good excuse to get to see him!). I've been to a couple a cities in Texas -
El Paso (really Mexico in my opinion) and San Antonio. Heading to Austin now. It's such a huge state that both cities I've been in are totally different.
Give me Tennessee any day!
Oh....
so we know all about the great state of texas huh?
What do you want?
Piney woods...visit east Texas.
Maybe a sandy beach..go to south padre
Mountains...yes we have them..the lower end of the Rockies, West Texas
Desert...oh the lovely Chihuahuan Desert ...beautiful.
Perhaps flatlands....go to the panhandle.
Maybe a more gentle terrain, the texas hill country is sublime.....
Visting Big Bend you get lots of the different terrain...
It's a beautiful place if you actually visit!!!!

I have been to Iowa several times, my wifes grandfather lives there, and I have never seen Iowa's charm till now
Iowa's Charm Here it is.
You can't hang a hammock from corn stalks either
Psalm 19:1-3 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard."
Well, I can't say I know ALL about it...
..but I have been to Texas several times, and I've traveled the length and breadth of the state several times. From Texarkana to El Paso, from Amarillo to Houston...I don't see the charm. YMMV. I did like San Antonio, but that is completely offset by my detest for the Midland-Odessa region. To be fair, I've never actually been to the gulf coast of Texas. Houston is the closest I've been.
For the record, I'm messing with Texas.

Actually, there's a story behind the name...
I was out in the woods with two friends a few years ago, and one afternoon I sat down on a rock in front of a large cedar tree. Apparently there was a sparrow's nest on one of the low-hanging branches, and my presence was not appreciated. Before I knew what was happening, I was being flogged by a very very angry bird. Needless to say, I'm told that my surprise and panic was extremely amusing...
And ever since then I've been called several variations of sparrow. It's not a flattering story, but I come by it honestly.
