Half Price HH at Trail Days

I went to Trail Days in Damascus, VA, today. I have a Warbonnet, and I sure wasn't expecting to buy a hammock, but Hennessy had their new for 2010 Backpacker Ultralight hammock with their own side entry zipper and no slit in the bottom. And they were selling them for 50% off. I bought one for my son.

    What a bargain!

Here is the link to the new model on their website:

    http://hennessyhammock.com/specs-ul-asym_zip.html

It says it supports a person up to 6ft. I am 5'10" and have a Warbonnet, so I found it a little short for my height. For my sons, though, it was perfect. With the new side entry zipper and no slit in the bottom, it is similar to the Blackbird, but I still prefer my BB.

For such a large hammock company you would think they would use something better then an early 2000 camera phone. Pics are poor at best

but great deal on a new hammock non the less!

The price is pretty awesome, and I'm glad HH is finally offering a zipper entry, which is far better than a bottom entry for many users. Maybe next they will upgrade the suspension to a knot-free version.

I wonder if they will start carrying the zipper entry version at REI. That would be a boon for a lot of people who probably get turned off by the complexity of trying to get into their sleeping bags and into a bottom entry hammock. Many will never know anything beyond what's sold at big box stores.

I picked one of the new double layer zipper entry models for my wife this weekend. Maybe Tom will get a Whoopie Sling version some day.
