ring buckle and webbing width?

I did not find this answer via search or thread-slogging so here goes:

I am very happy with my SMC ring buckle/webbing support system, but of course I can't leave it alone.

Right now I have webbing that measures out at 1 1/4" wide. It works really well in the ring buckles (it is cannibalized tiedown strap material).

What is the widest webbing anyone has successfully used in a SMC descending ring buckle?

(like this set up but w/ a prusik instead of a larkshead)

1 1/4" is what I use. I tried some 1 1/2" & it slipped every time I used it.
My 1 1/4 is divers webbing so dosnt stretch: 2 12' pieces (about 8' total between trees & ring buckles) will stretch about 8" over night.
The 1.5" is climbers webbing "Non stretch" with the same set up (same trees etc) will stretch about 1 - 2 feet, even after stretching it & pulling up the slack. I susupect if I strung up the 24' of 1.5" webbing full length it would nearly double in length given the right weight & time. Get it wet & I can sag to the ground in minutes from 2' off the ground.
SO, perhaps it was the stretchieness of the 1.5" that caused it to slip thru the rings & not the width. Either way, it is "retired". If you want to try it, I'm bringing it to the Mt Rogers hangout "just in case"..

Doctari I am safe to say that this is polypro right. If so I hope not because I just ordered 1 1/2 webbing the other day and should be here tomorrow. If it slips that much and stretches that much I sure didn't make the right order.

Please tell me it was not Poly pro

Nah, the outfitter don't carry Poly webbing. I'ts just nylon, I was assured that "It will not stretch!!!" & I suppose that from the relative POV of a climber, it dosn't, but for me: I end up on the ground everytime.
Tubular climbers webbing also stretches A LOT, & I can't get it to work even a little bit on the ring buckles, at least the flat webbing holds some.

nylon does stretch. quite a bit. Polypro stretches less in my experience with polyester the least stretch of them all. Climbing webbing is supposed to stretch to absorb the shock from a fall. Olefin like from Wally World is just crap....
