    inside hang - wall stud

This has probably been answered but my searching reveals no definitive answer. I'd like to hang in the bedroom. I have about a 12' span with single studs. I do believe they are load bearing but I'm fairly sure they're single 2X4 studs.

Dad's a carpenter and he said it'd support me but I wanted to get some offical Hammock Forum opinions... Will an eye-screw into the center of each stud hold me up? (I weight about 200 but with kids who knows how many will try to get in at once)

I could mount an eye bolt to a piece of 2X8 or something and span 2 studs but I'm pushing my luck with my wife already with the eye screw and I think that mounting an extra block of wood on the wall might push her over the edge.

    Whaddya think?

This won't answer your question but, I have about 13ft. corner to corner in a room designated for my traveler when Brandon sends it. Been racking my feeble brain, but it does seem corner to corner would be much more stable if you could do it.. This is just a ruff idea I am mulling over.. Corner stud setup is supposed to be a standard deal but you know how houses can differ...

Also consider a stand made from pipe.

nothing against your dad, but the pull is greater then he thinks. i would span 3. if you can bolt threw wall to a 2 by on the other side great. lag screws in 2-4s will only weaken them at that point. good luck.

I use an eye bolt into single 2x4 studs on each end and it holds me no problem. I weigh about 175lbs. My advice is to put the eye bolts up high and allow the hammock to have a lot of sag in it. If you stretch the hammock tight, the force will be a lot greater, and could cause problems.

Also, use forged eye-screws. They're much stronger...

i put a 2x6 across both walls and used decking screws to attach it to every stud in the wall for about 8 feet i use amsteel tree straps wrapped around the board and various different points to let me hang where ever in the room this set up holds two hammocks side by side no problem also put a self on top of the 2x6 so you dont even know it holds the hammocks at night.

Stan, is that corner bracket something you custom fabricated? Could be a real problem solver.

EDIT: Found similar item used for floating docks but like the one you show better.

Or what about a lag ring bolt or a hitching ring secured to a a stud. I know, ideally the load should be spread across two or three studs, but would a single bolt hold?
