mahem: angrysparrow is using 3.8mm on his ENO, so 3mm (doubled up like this) might be ok. Definitely wouldn't go any smaller though.

That could be a very valid concern, depending on the line you use and your method of attachment. I can only speak to the way I've done this in the past, and the results from doing so:

I tied my Cinch Buckles to my ENO using 3.8mm Spyderline with a prussik knot, and ran the line (doubled up) through the end channel and then tied back on itself with a bowline knot. After more than 50 hangs, I haven't had any problems and I can't see any real wear on the end channel. YMMV

As soon as I get my ENO and the MacCat some nameless dood is s'pose to send me, I will be almost all set for 2008.
I have a Z55 and love it. Excellent choice!

I think you'ld be okay Tobit then, if you do it like the way Angrysparrow did it. I'm heavier than you by quite a bit and will stick with the larger diameter rope for now just to err on the side of caution. I don't want to buy another hammock after all I just replaced one. I'll try it with my other one when I get it from camp to let you know if the added weight of a really heavy hanger will put me on my butt.

Angrysparrow is that a bowline in the rope you used to tie to your hammock? I can't really see.

    Tobot,
Couldn't you retie it the way I had it with the double fishermans knot and do a larkshead through the cinch buckle? Thats the way I did the ring buckles with the rope that I had on it. Also the 2 short pieces of black rope that were attached to the compression straps were the factory lines.

    Yes, a bowline knot.

I've now tried three different hammocks and in this order:Hennesey,Speer and ENO and each time I was more impressed so the ENO double nest is far and away my personal favorite. Why didn't I do this years ago I'll never know.I just did the Linville Gorge this past weekend and when I woke up Sunday morning at 6 am it was 4 degrees with 20 MPH winds and I was warm in a 0 degree bag.

That sounds like my experience with my first few hammocks. Except mine is a Treklight double. That is until I got a bridge hammock. Now my favorite.
Nice report. Bet it wasn't crowded. Welcome to the site.
