    dog in hammock?

My mom just brought home a lovable mutt (and I mean that with all respect). He s not that big, about as tall as a healer but not as stocky. Is there reason for him not to sleep with me in my ENO doublenest?

If his nails put a hole in it, it could tear.

Put a heavy blanket down first and make sure nails are trimmed.

It all depends on the dog. My Molly when in the hammock doesn't try to move around and stays where I put her. She enjoys the comfort of the hammock as much as I do. I usually put a sheet across me then help her in and position her like I want. It helps that my hammock is a DL.

    There's no excuse for laziness...

but, if you find one, let me know.

He may be more comfortable if you're not in there with him.

I have put my dog a Border Collie in my hammock in my bedroom, but she is a hot sleeper and prefers to sleep on the cool tiles under the hammock in my bedroom, when camping she sleeps on a tarp next to the hammock. My sisters little 10lb mutts have slept in the hammock, but I had to put a stop to it when I noticed their nails where starting to damage the fabric. Definitely put down something to protect the hammock as suggested above a heavy blanket will work.

Agreed! Strength, agility, size, etc. can all be bred into a dog, but a dog cannot be bred for violence, it is a learned/conditioned trait. Further more dogs can almost all dogs can be quickly and successfully be reconditioned/rehabilitated, even after years of neglect/abuse. Pit bulls are among the kindest and sweetest bred I have seen, my mother currently owns two she rescued years ago, and my brothers passed away a couple years ago after losing a battle with cancer, she was 9 years old.

When we take the dogs they sleep with us in our hammocks. I have two small dogs though. An 11 lb min pin, Titus and an 11 lb Chihuahua mutt, Bobo. They both love to sleep and am sure would sleep anywhere. Bobo got sick his first night in the WBBB and that was gross (I think he had to much camp food) but after that has been fine. I don't think I would take them without a bug net, that deters them from trying to jump out at night. When you take your dogs out in the woods just be careful with them. They don't care where they are they just want to be with you.
