Sounds like you'll be happy with the 1.7 DL. It's a solid choice for sure. I had one but sold it so I'd have some motivation when I started to lose weight. Since I dropped the weight, I recently bought a 1.1 DL to replace it and am happy with it. I think the 1.7 DL felt a bit flatter but to be honest I am just as comfortable in the 1.1 and it is a little bit lighter and a little bit more packable. Having said that, I am not a picky sleeper. Enjoy!

Totally missed your post. Thank you for the information! I see the reference in your link about more comfort and flatter lie for the 1.7dl.

Comfort, flat lay, and the aformentioned extra layer to prevent skeeter bites is more important to me than lighter weight.

Good review of the two. Thanks for the comparison.

Ok, I ordered my 1.7dl Blackbird last night. B-day present from my wife and son.

I was going to order some snakeskins. Anyone know the length and more particularly the girth or width I'd need? One custom maker is asking but I may order a set from Hennessy. Just want to make sure I don't make a mistake on this. Looks like raw dimensions from the wb site are 65" wide by 120" long. Hennessy snake skins are 84". Sounds like they may be 3' short....not sure if you can cram the rest in....looks like the advantage of the skins is just to slide them down. Could that be 84" each skin? I'll run that by Hennessy....I've already got a question into them. Their skins are silnylon, the custom ones are noseeem mesh. I can see advantages of each, but I think I'd want the silnylon to keep the dirt out to prevent abrasion of the hammock fabric.

Any suggestions and clarification are appreciated!

The HH Snakeskins would have to be 84" X 2. I have two pairs of the custom Tarp Tubes in mesh, 4" or maybe 6" should do you fine. Mine (4") work with the Traveler well, probably work equally well for a WBBB. I prefer to use the WB stuff sacks for the hammocks though...Tarp Tubes for the tarps.

    I'm 6'1 230 +/-. I've had both 1.7 and 1.1 dbl. I sold the 1.7 and prefer the 1.1dbl. it's just more comfy...

I've heard quite a few people say they prefer the 1.1 fabric, to my knowledge its more slick and the 1.7 may be a little more rough. None the less, nylon is nylon. Love my 1.1's.

I'm a 1.7 DL user but sure would like to try a 1.1 DL. I'm 6' and 200# hang weight. If money was no object I'd buy one of each just in case Warbonnetguy ever retires. They would quickly become collector's items and the price would go through the roof/tarp

I got the confirmation last night that my WBBB 1.7dl had shipped. Can't wait to give it a try. Will post up my thoughts. I'm a rookie in hammock camping, but comfortable is comfortable. I'll let y'all know my experience. Thanks for the input!

So, this is how your weekend will go now:

    This afternoon:
    5:30pm Check USPS tracking information.
5:33pm Visit Warbonnet site; ogle Blackbird photos; watch set-up video (AGAIN).
8:04pm Repeat all of the above. "Why hasn't it left Colorado? What does 'USPS has been notified' even mean?"
    9:28pm Check tracking information.
    9:29pm Shug-time.
10:31pm Search HF for 'WBBB.' Whoa...you've got a lot of reading to do!
    11:14pm Check tracking information.
    11:15pm Google 'USPS delivery estimates.'
11:48pm Watch set-up video one more time, just so you'll know exactly what to do when that box arrives.
11:57pm Concoct story to tell the boss for when you can't make it to work one day next week. But...which day??
    11:58pm Check tracking information.
12:01am Think to self, "Wait, how did that slippery half hitch go again? Behind the buckles?" Set-up video. Again.
12:10am In bed for a restless night's sleep.
12:31am Tell yourself, "OK, maybe there's a 3rd shift at the sorting facility." Check tracking information.

    Saturday
    Repeat above, beginning at 6:14am.

    Sunday
See Saturday. Wife and son realize that you have a problem, or at least an addiction to package tracking databases.

    Next Week
It arrives and all is right in the world.

Then you start looking at those camo Superfly pictures...
“Simplicity in all things is the secret of the wilderness and one of its most valuable lessons. I think the matter of simplicity goes further than just food, equipment, and unnecessary gadgets; it goes into the matter of thoughts and objectives as well. When in the wilds, we must not carry our problems with us or the joy is lost.” -Sigurd Olson
