    FL>Hidden Pond, ONF>July 21-23, 2017>5th Annual "No Underquilt Hang"

It sure has been a hot one out there. We took the longest stretch of dry weather in Florida History and then added rain every day for the last 16 days.

I think this is a perfect prescription for a Hammock Hang....Florida Style.

Come on out to the 5th Annual No Underquilt Hang in July for some fun in the Florida Sun. Bring your swim trunks to relax in the clean, spring fed waters of Hidden Pond, Hike the Florida Trail to Silver Glen or Juniper Springs (day use fees) or just relax around the fire(small-ish) and stay in camp.

Hang out with some of the best folks around and make new friends. It's just a short hike in from the West using Hidden Pond Short. Or stroll on in from the North on the Florida Trail starting at Pat's Island trailhead. You can also extend your hike coming in from the South starting at Juniper Springs(Parking Fee).

Hope to see you all soon.

    Have fun out there.
I can handle alligators, bears & snakes, but those chiggers beat me into submission! LOL

    True words.

I have learned the hard way to just wear long pants and keep my socks and shoes on. No more open camp shoes. Also, a little chem warfare just to keep them at bay.

See ya later when it cools off, Mike.

Has anyone laid eyes on the pond lately?? Last time out it was more of "Hidden Puddle". Hopefully the rain has rejuvenated it quite a bit. I was kicking around camping at Juniper Springs that same weekend but noticed the fire ban on the website. Has that been lifted?? Camping just isn't camping without a fire....

Last night an old guy in a robe and a long white beard knocked on my door and asked me if I had any breeding pairs of animals that would be interested in a long ocean voyage. I think the burn ban is gone. I may be able to make Friday and Saturday.

As much as I miss camping--oh do I miss it--I'm going to take the advice of a few other FL hangers and stick to the open water for the summer. Got myself an inflatable SUP and have been loving exploring the mangrove islands near Sarasota. Hoping I can take this beast hammock camping once fall rolls around! fullsizeoutput_2549.jpgIMG_3036.jpg

Lord willing and the pond rises, I will be there. It's been too long.

Went out there a month ago, water was pretty low, but it should be good now, hopefully!

Unable to commit at this time, but it's on the calendar and hope to be able to make it!
