Thumbs up New long Incubator: thumbs up

I bought this 3-season incubator from the In-Stock category on the HG site. It arrived quite quickly (with free shipping---to Canada!), and so I had to try it out as soon as possible. Took it up to Algonquin Park for a two night hike.

It's a little longer than normal, by about 3 inches. At first I found that annoying but later felt it was fine, as it means the sides go up further and shoulder slip was nonexistent. I use a pillow, so I don't notice the ridge where the top of the UQ ends.

Unfortunately: the temperatures only went down to 16* C or 60*F, so I couldn't really test out the down.

Liked: that it fit right first time, like a glove.

I have an older model summer UQ. I really like the draft collars and different suspension on the new one. No, that does not mean the old one is for sale!

    Thanks, Hammock Gear

Hey Dragon 360, I have to laugh every time I see your data. Is there a piece of gear you don't already own?

Anyway, I'm sure I'll run into you some day at a hang and we can talk gear!

@ raiffnuke. Yes it was a good choice. I'm just wondering how I got free shipping to Canada, but maybe I shouldn't wonder too loudly...

Oooops, that WAS too loud. I heard you! LOL.. Yep, we missed that. We DO typically charge shipping for international orders...especially since we send them all USPS Express. No worries though, I am really glad you like the quilt! Get out there and put it to good use. Send me a couple of pictures of the quilt in action if you get the chance. Thanks again!

On my last outing I only took two shots, not very clear, but here are links to them. I'll have to wait till fall to really give it a workout. It's just so hot here now. Must say, though, I really like the fit of the new design. Thank you! You'll certainly get my business in the future, especially if I dive into winter camping.

By long, do you mean vs. a Phoenix or an extra 3" on a standard Incubator?

As far as the width, I haven't found that extra length (a full UQ vs. a 2/3 or 3/4) goes up more around the shoulders. To me, it was depended on the width that it was used in the pattern. I really like Adam's 3D design. The inner fabric is shorter than the outer, which means that it wraps around more. You don't have the excess material on the inside that bunches up.

Glad you like it! It will likely work for you even below it's rating.

It's an extra 3" longer than a standard incubator. I don't know why. I bought it on the Stock page to get a discount. Maybe someone ordered it custom and then backed out after they had already made it.

I figured what difference does 3 " make? Well it does make a difference, good and bad.

The bad is, the shock corded end line of my other (standard length summer) incubator is behind my neck; now it's the middle of my head, so that's weird. But I use an inflatable pillow, so it's not noticeable.

The good is, it really envelopes the hammock and feels like it creates more warmth, and is less likely to slip off a shoulder because it's higher. I imagine I could also slide down in the hammock until the end of the quilt is over my head, if it were really cold.

As you say, Boomer, the new pattern is a good one.
