    Over-type cover

So I was playing around with some ideas to add some warmth with what I have available in the house. I have 2 woobies (poncho liners to you civvies ) that I can add to my current leighlo 20* UQ and sleeping bags. What do you think about draping one over my HH's ridgeline as kind of an overcover? Also, what can I do (other than use a pad/e-blanket) to help boost the UQ?

Over covers do help significantly with temperature. At least a 10 degree difference.
However, condensation is a real and present danger. The over cover needs to be HIGHLY breathable. I have one that I custom made for my WBBB.

I used a ponch linner last year over the top of my hammock. It worked well to keep the breezes off of me and to hold a bit of warmth in my hammock. I could tell it held some heat because when I stuck my hand outside it was noticebly colder. Only problem was that it was frozen! Condensation had collected in it and froze.

This is what I came up with to help boost temps. Tyvec under/over cover that really helps with warmth and wind protection and it was cheep to make. No condensation as of yet in below freezing temps

How low did you go in this set up?

A quick trick you may want to try to bump up your UQ, take 1/2 yard of Insultex and either loose loop stitch to mating surface of UQ (between hammock and UQ). This will add 5-10 degrees or so capability. I have an insert piece I place in my Woobie UQ, then lay a piece between hammock and Woobie, gets me a good bump-up in warmeth.

    myles- loved your Tyvek idea.
this is mine. I call it my 'fort' cuz that's what it feels like when I sleep
    in it
I actually finished the edges with VHB tape as a) I am moving b) don't have a thread injector due to move

Walmartius had some, what I believe, was some RipStop on sale for $1.50/yd. I have no idea the weight of it and the bolt was not labeled. DivaB told me I had to be able to breathe through it. So, here I was, blowing through this material in
    Wally World!
Anyway, I keep the heat way down and just use my fort at night in my apt.

Alright guys, I know I'm the noob but...

Why not just snug your fly down close to the netting?

Granted, I don't run a separate ridgeline, and I nest in a HH where the sides of the hammock are shock-corded to the edges of the fly, and I run a hex fly, but...my hammock is at least 10-15°F warmer than the outside temp in the morning.

When did they start getting called "woobies"??
For my whole time in the Marine Corps 1975-1996 they were always called poncho liners.

Same with the whole "Challenge Coins" thing. Never saw them in that amount of time and I retired off of a staff job run by a 3 star where all those HQ Admin weenie types would have been all over that sort of thing to show how cool they were!

Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem.

They are called woobies because you never see anyone in the field without one...
