Incubator vs. Winter Yeti

Slept like a charm using my Incubator underquilt on a Speer Hammock. It was 17 degrees out and I stayed warm. The Incubator worked as well as my Winter Yeti.I like both underquilts equally. But my favorite underquilt is still the Speer Pea Pod. I can lay in the deepness of the hammock body and look at the night time stars and clouds moving in the sky.

I do not plan on selling any of them. The Incubator and the Winter Yeti are the best.. The Speer Pea Pod and hammock both work ideally together as a simple bombproof system.. The Yeti kept me warm down to 4 degrees and I slept at 9 degrees with the incubator.. It has 2oz overfill, These underquilts are so cool because they are so warm.

Out of curiosity, what's your thoughts on the weights of each in relation to their insulation properties?

I find that the Winter Yeti and the Incubator I own are about equal in the power of their down insulation. The Winter Yeti is the smallest and of course has the lightest weight but the Incubator covers much more hammock area. The Yeti and Incubator are like updated versions of the KAQ I own.. The Speer Pea Pod is ideal for temperatures above 25 degrees. In moderately cold or warmer weather the Speer Pea Pod is my favorite quilt .. . It might weigh the most and have less insulating power but when I use it I do not usually carry any top quilt or sleeping bag.

I love my 3 season yeti for summer, but i just cannot get warm enough without a pad in a winter uq that aint full. For summer i love the short uqs, but them and winter just dont mix for me, gotta have the full.

Yeah, I like my 3 season Yeti too but it definitely isn't enough for winter without adding a full length pad to supplement. For me I think a winter Yeti or equivalent such as the Perfect Trees winter Ptarmigan UQ plus a leg pad would be plenty sufficient down to at least 10 to 15 degrees. Doing my first winter hang ever last weekend I found my feet to be the warmest part of me. It was my torso that really needed the boost in warmth.

Definitely something to be said for a full length underquilt for winter too though if you could do away with pads. I'm guessing you wouldn't be sacrificing much in weight to go with a full length UQ vs. a torso UQ/leg pad combo. Only drawback to full length UQ is bulk but then again not having to strap a pad to the outside of the pack kind of offsets that as well. Hmm...

This is one of those questions I've been wondering.

I think I've pretty much settled on the Incubator, simply because it is full-length, and that is what I am after.

One questions I've been wondering is how does the "shelf" of the Warbonnet Blackbird get effected by these UQ's? Do you end up having to not extend out the shelf?
