head left-- legs right-- or legs left head right?

How is the SB supposed to be layed in? Head left side legs right-- or visa versa.. Also-- What is the best hang? 25 degrees-- 20? foot higher-- head higher? I blindly set my hammock up this weekend and though i slept well-- i felt like i could get a lot more comfort out of this thing.. So figured id see what the experts thought..

About 30* tie off from the tree with the foot a few inches higher. Head/foot

    Haha, The answer is yes.
No left, no right, no head or foot end. You get to pic.
Don't like the view the way you are laying just lay the other way.
    Hard to beat that.

I like my SB angle a little tighter than you'd hang a wbbb.
20-25 degrees works best for me.

Here's an angle shot in my backyard. I'm guessing it's 20 degrees

Ahhh-- so there is no pocket cut into the hammock for foot and head on one side or the other .. They are equal on both sides?

I think i had it a bit tight last weekend... I kept remembering everyone talking about how the hammock likes a tighter/flatter lay... So i tightened it up a bit more then i bet i should have.. Fun to learn new things..

Yes! The hammock itself is symmetrical in that is doesn't matter which asymmetrical angle I lay in it. L/R or R/L.

Although sometimes I'm curled up on my side with my head resting on the edge of the hammock looking out. Especially when my tarp is in porch mode, or not deployed, and I'm on a ridge with a nice view.

Then there was those hot summer days where my head was in the middle and each leg dangled off it's respective side. Gotta love an open hammock with a bug sock!

I don't know about the regular SB but my SB Light Hiker is asymetrically cut to favour laying head left/feet right. I can still lie the other way but it is more comfortable head left. As OutandBack mentioned, a little tighter hang seems to be more comfortable than the traditional 30 degrees other hammocks need. I set mine up around 20 degrees or so.

Is the bed assymetric, or with extra fabric added to one side? Or is it cut as a parallelogram?

Or is the assymetry from tie-outs which are not located opposite one another.

Knottie, some time ago, expressed surprise in reporting after dissassembly that a Hennessy assymetric was a perfect rectangle. All the assymetry is from the tie-outs. IIRC nobody commented on this in that thread, as though everybody else knew. Or as though nobody knew.

Actually, the Switchback & LightHiker are both cut as parallelograms. The pull-outs open up the hammock using the slack material created by this design. Hope this helps.

It is semantically true that the Switchback has a parallelogram cut, because it looks exactly like a rectangle when you lay it flat on the floor. I think that the only reason for the head left, feet right suggestion is to keep the mesh pockets from getting in your face if you were to arrange yourself the other way.

I have the Classic SB. When I changed the suspension on mine, I measured it. It is a perfect rectangle. That's why you can lay in any direction as OutandBack so eloquently described.

I'm all over the place in that hammock which is why I'm such a SB fanboy!
