Lightbulb Another mod - stuff sack storage space

For what it's worth, I was at it again today! LOL After looking at one of the sites someone gave a link to, I realized I could put a stuff sack in the unused space above my head. (no comments on unused space in my head!) So, here's what I did--

I took an REI UL stuff sack I was not using and shortened it lengthwise. I wanted "short, but fat." I also sewed a loop onto the bottom. Then I ran a shock cord from the HH suspension prussik hook through the open space created by the two zippers 2QZQ installed for me. Attached that shock cord to the loop. Now I have a stuff sack that will hold a down beanie, some mittens, whatever, out of the way in previously unused space. But I can pull it down to open and get into it as needed, then the shock cord pulls it back when I let go.

No photos, but if anyone needs to see it, I can do that tomorrow. I might add a mitten hook to the stuff sack, to hook to the ridgeline, as when full the sack tends to fall out of the hammock when I get out.

In spite of the total lack of popular demand (when did THAT ever stop me?!), here are some morning photos of the stuff sack addition to my HH.

The pics show (1) the stuff sack in the hammock, (2) how the sack fell out when I got out of the hammock, and (3) showing the hook on the ridgeline to keep it from falling out and how the shock cord allows me to pull it toward me for easier access. This stuff sack has a down hood and down mittens in it. Previously, I had no place to put/store such stuff during the night and certainly not ready for sure and ready access.

    Brilliant use of shock cord.

As a complete newbie, I confess that, prior to catastrophic hammock failure, I was struggling with the fact that there was NO PLACE to put ANYTHING in the hammock without it quickly migrating to the space under my hiney.

Once the hammock failed and I found me and all my stuff on the ground, the need for organized in-hammock storage was a non-issue.

I will honor your creativity by plagiarizing your design as soon as I get some shock cord... and fix my hammock.

Honor away! I had to pass my shock cord through the end of the hammock and up the suspension line a ways, to get enough so that it would stretch far enough for me. Clear as mud? You'll figure it out.

Okay, but we need to see pics! I've been thinking of making one of those too.
