I'm just trying to get over the fact that the world's greatest hiker would put a flyz on a prusik and take the severe weight penalty of the additional prusik.

I think I'll try it, though.

You can buy amsteel ones but that wouldn't work on a ridge line.
You may could get Stu at whoopieslings.com to make you soft shackle prussic loop out of zing/lash it...in fact, I may contact him as I'm interested as well.

I was going to make a tarp RL with nothing but Dutch Hooks. I guess maybe not
It would probably still weigh less than my marine, something or other, line.

Let me know what you hear. I'd be open to trying to make my own but don't know where you get the proper tool for 1.75 Zingit and how tricky it is to work with.

I use one strand (out of eight) from a Cat5 data cable. If you've already spliced Amsteel then splicing Zing-It isn't too hard.

Never thought of that - awesome idea and plenty of old nasty cables lying around

If you pm eagle eye (from Dutchwaregear) and ask him nicely he will make them. I do like the soft shackles on the d rings so I can remove it easily.

Simply solution. The Cat5 single strand is strong for its small size. I used this on mason line as well.
The mason line is a tighter weave than Zing-It and almost impossible, but doable. I don't splice mason line anymore though. Not worth the time due to said tight weave.
Now with Zing-It or Lash-It, all day long. Locking pliers may also help get a good grip on the cable strand.

Light weight is not why I am known as the worlds greatest hiker. It is the uncanny ability to find hotels and fine dinning restaurants.

Mr. Dutch, do you put a small line, like fishing line, into the bury to help retrieve the eye, or is it not necessary?
