    Hanging in BC?

Does anyone have hanging experience in hanging near the lower mainland of BC?

I'm new to hanging, and not the most experienced with camping in general, though, I am really wanting to change that!

Has anyone had any problems with hanging in any BC parks?

Any tricks/hints/tips that you can provide a newby, specific to BC?

Are there many hangers in BC??

    Cheers,
    Scott

    Hi Scott
I've only been hanging for a season and a half and am located North of you on the Central Coast. Most of my camping is on Crown Land but I have hung in three provincial parks/campsites and not had any problems.

With your Hex fly and SS you should be set for summer and fine for spring/fall with some care - protected and warm. The undercover will help to keep the wind from cutting through, something I find that really robs the heat.

There are several HF members from the LML who could give you more specific information. Get out and get some experience, it is a steep learning curve but lots of fun......and watch out for the bears

    Cheers

    Hanging in BC?

I hang all over the place! Lol! UBC to Hope and up to Whistler. Hints, be bear safe, bring bug and sun spray, have a bug net and have fun. Practice in a park or your back yard and leave lots of day light for setup when in the field. Princess Auto has cheap tarps that are tuff. Steveston Marine down town has all the fun stuff like amsteel. MEC as Biolite stoves and other great gear. I could go on and on.

No problems here. I tend to be off the trails if In a park but I doubt you"ll have trouble. Just watch above you for widowmakers, same as when setting up any camp. Try to always bring a stove. It'll save you trouble in any season. I think Mikeinajeep likes the Biolite, my preference is an diy alcohol stove, but I also have a Bushwacker Wood Stove the alcohol stove nests into nicely.

Are you planning on doing car camping or backpacking for your hangs?

Cool! Thanks for the info everyone.

I have a MSR multi-fuel stove (can't remember the model) and I've made a soda can alcohol stove that hasn't been outside yet. (Tested well inside though)

I'm starting out car camping, but want to get into backpacking. My wife is very green when it comes to camping, so I have to start with sites that have flush toilets and work our way out from there.

I've been planning out my gear with Backpacking in mind, which is why I decided to make my wife a down UQ. (I have a HH Explorer for her - I found it used, so no insulation came with it)

Now If I can just find time where me and the wife both have time off work!

    Thanks again everyone!

Too bad transportation is so doggone expensive, I bet we could get up a whopper of a hang in BC. You folks live in some real nice scenery.
