Forgive my ignorance, I don't really understand this part. You have a small loop, and a long whoopie that get attached to each end of the webbing, but in the pics of the hang I'm not seeing (understanding) how it all gets put together?

    thanks,
The whoopie hook on the end of the webbing acts like a dutch clip or carabiner. The mule tape is smaller than 1'' poly webbing, so it works well like shown in Sarge's video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...qE7OQZw#t=191s

Thanks for that, now it makes sense....

I think I may try something similar but stay with 1in webbing...

    Cheers,

I think I read your post where you sold all your gear, & back to ground. Sometimes, a hammock is not for everyone. I'm sure I speak for many that we hope you still hang around as this is a great community which goes far beyond hanging in a hammock.

    Thanks again!

Good to hear. This is pretty much my main forum. It really seems to cover all my needs and meet people as well. I still own two tents and plan on keeping at least one. Maybe they'll open a side forum for tents here as well.

I made one last night. I have not had time to test it. It does use less amsteel, but the UCR does not go as short as the whoopie does. Will have to get out and test it to see how well it holds. I think I have the bury long enough that it shouldn't slip. I am thinking that If I need something shorter than the UCR will go, I can just skip it and hang the hammock right on the straps......RR

The problem use to be that I would find trees too far away. Now, with Whoopies and the UCR's I use, with longer straps, I can't find trees which are far enough apart. Of course, that's only a problem here where I live. On the AT, this setup will be a dream.
