    Hammock Radio

Just picked up a radio that will easily fit into the pocket in my HH. It is at Walgreens and is made by Coby. It is an AM/FM with a digital display (analog tuning) , built in speaker, clock with alarm and earbuds. All this for $5.00. I sleep in the back yard quite a bit and this is really great. It is a little smaller than a pack of cigarettes.
When it goes over their heads, it really doesn't matter how high it is.

I already do that, I have just take my ipod along so that I can listen to the Bible. My hiking partner takes small speakers so that we can both listen when we are at camp.

    Oooooooh, oooooooh, oooooooh!

Since they make Ipod backpacks, shoes, pants, and whatnot, you should make an IHammock. The controls will be built in to the side of the hammock, and a little pocket for the ipod to fit in and plug in.

that's a part of what i want to do also... bible & songs.
i wasn't sure if i could have both on the same unit. i'm still trying to learn a little more about the personal music units.

i guess i'd better encourage our folks to look again at jeff's 1st post in the "non-hammock DIY" forum.

as much as i see this as something to enjoy while hanging in the hammock, i can understand the point of keeping this forum on topic.
besides, yall going to get me in trouble

maybe you (or others) could PM me about those ipod options. i want to learn more about it.

Just buy one of the Ipod backpacks, and scavenge the controls they put in the shoulder strap for a prototype. Now if only I wasn't so anti-ipod.

I own an iPod and I use it quite a bit while backpacking. I love audiobooks.

I have recently been looking at some small radios for backpacking. I saw someone using one of the Grundig FR200 and it was really nice. Excellent reception, hand crank, cellphone/iPod charger, 12 shortwave bands as well as weather radio.

I have also been researching some other radios similar to the Grundig so if anyone has some suggestion please let me know.

I use an ipod nano with the FM radio attachment. It's fun to see what kind of stations you pick up while camping out of your county/state. If you cant pickup anything you can always go back to your music collection.
