    Storing Synthetic Underquilts

Should I store my AHE Jarbridge with apex climashield uncompressed, or can I keep it in the stuff sack when not in use?

uncompressed,,treat it like down. I treat all my synthetics like my down quilts. I store everything in pillow cases or large bags that are breathable.

+1 on the rubbermaid bins and cedar. I can lay multiple quilts in one bin, and keep the bins stacked in the basement and ready to pull out for use as needed, knowing the gear will be all set to go.

I hang all my stuff up like coats. Its the strangest part of the closet. I also hang a "moisture catching" bag in there (get them at lowes). Surprising how much moisture it will wick out of the air.

I asked that same question when I got mine. Here's the reply:

    Re: KAQ Care/Storage‏
    Hey Tom,
Best for any quilt is laid flat. Second best is a large oversized bag that does not compress the loft. Mesh or loose cotton laundry style bags work well. Hanging can let the insulation settle, compressing it self.

With our personal quilts, once I cam certain that they are 100% dry, the get either put inside a very large tote or laid out on top of it. The lid on the tote stays cracked just for good measure, but if I wanted to seal it I would add some large desiccate packs. If possible I would not sore it for weeks at a time in the stuff sack...few days here and there for hikes is not a big deal but leaving it compressed none stop is not great for the insulation.

    Thanks
    Paul

Go to a Dollar General or a Wal Mart and you can get those mesh laundry bags for around $1.50. They work great
