OK, now you're getting closer to my part of the state of Texas. I wished I could go, but not this weekend; county stock show and all. If you east Texas/South Texas guys organize something in the month of Feb or March, post it up; I will keep my eyes open. About to go that direction with my oldest son exploring college opportunities...sure would be nice to stay cheap somewhere, cheap being the operative word.

There are some water areas in there with a bunch of trees. We run an orienteering event up there north of the Black Creek camp area. I forget the camp area that is north of there. That is the northern edge of the O-map for us. I was also surprised at the trees and camping areas. There are also some stock ponds with water wells fed by windmills up there.

Have fun. I got to work on the home-stead.

Adding some photo's of trees, the cows and one of the tanks.

Big thanks to The Hammock Life and Caveman for letting Pam and I tag along. I've lived in the area for 22 years now, have always seen "LBJ Grasslands" on the map, but never gave thought to going up... It's grasslands, right? Wrong

The site location shall remain unspoken, but everyone around should come out to see this. We could hang a thousand hammocks in there and have room to move. It would be a great place for a mini-backpacking hang. The walk in takes about 10-15 minutes depending... You could carry all of your heavy gear in if you wanted to.

This was our first time to get the new Dangerbirds out of the USPS Priority Mail box from Papa Smurf (have had them for about 6 weeks). They are things of beauty and so comfortable. I was so worried about getting Pam's set up just right for her (always want her comfortable and warm) that I didn't pay attention to my set up... head higher than feet, and I hung my Incubator backwards (head end at my feet). It got down to around 36 overnight, and even backwards I never got cold.

It was great to see Caveman again and great to meet THL. I'd camp with these guys anytime.

    A few pics...
