Video: How To Make DIY Bias Tape

My first DIY Hammock project catches a much-needed break. I finally found a bit of free time away from work-work and other non-hammock to-doos to edit some more video!!

The project continues with three videos that walk us through making our own DIY bias tape.

    Part 7 -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrxSqepkLuU
    Part 8 -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJXsquVcG8k
    Part 9 -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bh5vOAkVVg

    Hope you enjoy!!

Cool! Thanks for that feedback. I sometimes don't know how I'm doing, really. i.e., If I'm conveying things in a way that is easy to grok.

FYI... let me know if there is anything I can do to make them better.

I like the tip on fray check. I never seal my cuts though. I either hem or seam them. Do think this step is really necessary?

I think you're doing an excellent job creativeKayt!
If you missed anything, someone else will have to point it out.
The way you explain things is very understandable. You are a good teacher.

As someone who is about to embark on the adventure that is making my own hammock (minus the necessary thread injecting experience) I'm watching your progress very closely! Your videos are so good, in fact, that if you are not already a professional teacher/video editor, you have a couple extra career options!

I can't wait to see the finished product! Please keep 'em comin'!

Ya'know... (pondering)... probably not, since it's folded under. I just wanted to experiment and I personally like the extra security. Just a little bit of my "A" personality poking through. Heh heh.

Great instructable on how to form the bias tape strip.

Clover has a great little 'jig' to assist in the folding and pressing of the strip once it is cut to get a uniform bias tape strip.

The units are available for different widths of the bias strips. Here is a YouTube link showing how they work.

I know the link is for a sewing/quilting show but it wouldn't be the first time that us gear makers have borrowed an idea from the sewing community.
